How to Connect Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to Wi-Fi
Open Wi-Fi Networks
Open Wi-Fi networks do not require a password to connect. To connect to an open Wi-Fi network:
- On your device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Turn on Wi-Fi.
- Your device will automatically scan for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Select the network you want to connect to.
Secure Wi-Fi Networks
Secure Wi-Fi networks require a password to connect. To connect to a secure Wi-Fi network:
- On your device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Turn on Wi-Fi.
- Your device will automatically scan for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Select the network you want to connect to.
- Enter the password for the network.
- Tap Join.
Public Wi-Fi Networks
Public Wi-Fi networks are available in many public places, such as coffee shops, libraries, and airports. Public Wi-Fi networks can be either open or secure. To connect to a public Wi-Fi network:
- On your device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Turn on Wi-Fi.
- Your device will automatically scan for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Select the network you want to connect to.
- If the network is open, you will be connected automatically. If the network is secure, you will need to enter the password for the network.
- Tap Join.
Tips
- If you are having trouble connecting to a Wi-Fi network, try restarting your device.
- If you are still having trouble connecting, contact your network administrator.
