$500 Per Month Rent: Cocoon-Like Pods Offer Escape From Soaring Costs
Brownstone Shared Housing Converts Buildings into Dwellings for Dozens of People
In the face of skyrocketing rental costs, a California startup has come up with a unique solution: cocoon-like pods that allow 14 people to share a single house. Brownstone Shared Housing has already converted two houses and an office space into these shared dwellings, with rents ranging from $500 to $650 per month.
Compact Sleep Pods Offer Unique Living Experience
"It's easy to stay for months in a pod when it's as spacious and well-designed as ours," said James Stallworth, co-founder of Brownstone Shared Housing. The pods, which measure 64 by 32 by 96 inches, are equipped with a bed, desk, storage space, and a window. Residents share common areas such as a kitchen, living room, and bathrooms.
While the pods are compact, they offer a comfortable and affordable living option for those who are struggling to keep up with rent. "I love the community aspect of it," said one resident. "I've met so many great people here."
Brownstone Shared Housing is currently operating in San Francisco, but the company plans to expand to other cities in the future. The company's mission is to provide affordable housing options for people who are being priced out of the market.
"We believe that everyone deserves a place to live that is safe, clean, and affordable," Stallworth said. "Our pods are a way to make that happen."
