Panthers Face Uphill Battle After Home Loss

The Boston Bruins took a commanding 1-0 lead in their second-round playoff series against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night, winning 5-2 at the BB&T Center. The Bruins, who finished the regular season second in the Eastern Conference with a record of 47-20-15, controlled the game from start to finish, outshooting the Panthers 37-22 and winning the faceoff battle 55% to 45%.

Brad Marchand led the way for the Bruins with two goals and an assist, while Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak each added a goal and an assist. Torey Krug also chipped in with two assists, and Tuukka Rask made 20 saves in net.

The Panthers, who are the defending Presidents Trophy winners, were led by Aleksander Barkov's goal and assist. Jonathan Huberdeau also scored a goal, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 32 saves in net.

The Bruins will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series when they host the Panthers in Game 2 on Thursday night. The puck drops at 7:00 PM ET.
