Arrest Warrant Sought for War Crimes
The International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor has requested an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leaders, alleging they committed war crimes during the recent conflict in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement released on Monday, ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda said her office had "found reasonable grounds to believe that war crimes and crimes against humanity were committed" by both sides in the conflict.
The prosecutor's request is the first step in a process that could lead to an arrest warrant being issued by the ICC.
