2024 French Parliamentary Election Results

Close Race for Control of National Assembly

On Sunday, July 7, 2024, France elected 577 members of its National Assembly. While President Emmanuel Macron's party, Ensemble, fell short of securing a majority, it emerged as the largest bloc, exceeding expectations.

National Rally Disappoints

Despite strong gains in the first round, Marine Le Pen's far-right National Rally underperformed in the second round. They ultimately secured only 89 seats, well below their projected 150-170.

Ensemble Secures Second Place

Ensemble is projected to control between 152 and 163 seats, making it the second largest bloc. This result puts Macron in a strong position to form a coalition government, as he will need only a few additional seats to reach a majority.

Close Contest for Third Place

The race for third place is still too close to call, with Jean-Luc Mélenchon's La France Insoumise and the conservative Les Républicains within striking distance of one another. Neither party is expected to secure more than 100 seats.
